Man Detained In Connection With Missing Baby, Dead Mother: Police

The Memphis Police Department is still searching for 2-day-old Kennedy Hoyle, who has an active Amber Alert.

MEMPHIS, TN — A man was detained Wednesday during a search for a newborn baby girl after her mother was found dead Tuesday night, but authorities are still searching for the child, according to the Memphis Police Department.

An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday morning for Kennedy Hoyle, who is just two days old, in Memphis by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Police found a deceased 27-year-old woman, later determined to be Hoyle's mother, at approximately 11:15 p.m. Tuesday near an abandoned car on Sedgewick Drive and Levi Road in Memphis, authorities said.

The detained man is known to the victims, according to police, but it's not clear if any charges will be brought against him.
