Memphis nonprofit provides relief, resources to hundreds amid extreme heat (wreg.com) — In Downtown Memphis, volunteers with Guiding Light spent Saturday at Morris Park handing out cold water, snow cones, food, and emotional support to help people cope with dangerous triple-digit heat. The Memphis-based nonprofit, founded by Yolonna Winton, focuses on loving, praying with, and encouraging residents in crisis, with another community event planned for December.

Man critically injured in attempted robbery, shooting in Highland Heights (wreg.com) — A man was critically wounded in a pre-dawn shooting during an attempted robbery near Pacific Avenue and Baltic Street in Memphis' Highland Heights neighborhood. Memphis Police say the suspect demanded money, fired once, and fled in a green pickup, leaving the victim hospitalized in critical condition as investigators continue searching for leads.

Metal Museum celebrates grand opening at new location in Overton Park (actionnews5.com) — Memphis art lovers now have a new destination as the Metal Museum officially opens its expanded campus in Overton Park, taking over the former Memphis College of Art building. The new location offers more gallery space, community event areas, and hands‑on workshops where local artists and smiths can create and teach, while the former riverfront site becomes an artist residency.
