Another road closure coming to South Front Street (wreg.com) — Drivers in downtown Memphis should prepare for both lanes of South Front Street at Mina and Butler to close from September 14 through September 30 for sewer work. While that project begins, the nearby G.E. Patterson intersection has just reopened, easing access for businesses like the Blue Monkey and neighbors who've endured a long, disruptive construction summer.
2. Volunteers pack more than 185K meals for Mid-South Food Bank in 9/11 remembrance event (actionnews5.com) — Hundreds of volunteers gathered at FedExForum in Downtown Memphis to pack more than 185,000 meals for Mid-South Food Bank in a 9/11 day-of-service event. Sponsored by the Memphis Grizzlies and national nonprofit 9/11 Day, the effort turned remembrance into hands-on help for local families facing food insecurity across the Mid-South.
3. Daily Memphian - Saturday, September 12, 2026 (dailymemphian.com) — This Daily Memphian roundup touches on everything from a new Shelby County Clerk tackling title backlogs to Memphis Tigers football storylines and debates over Flock cameras across the county. It also highlights Memphis Farmers Market's 20th anniversary, a 9/11 ceremony at the Fire Museum of Memphis, local arts performances, and neighborhood development and business updates.
4. Memphis Man Attacked at Home By Two Men Wrestles Gun Away From Intruder Who Said 'Watch This,' Then Shoots Him (usacarry.com) — A Memphis man in a Frayser apartment fought off two intruders, wrestled away a handgun, and fatally shot one attacker after being beaten in his bedroom, according to police. The second suspect, a convicted felon, allegedly continued the assault with a rifle and now faces multiple serious charges and a $150,000 bond.
5. Overton Park Shell celebrates 90 years of music (wreg.com) — Overton Park Shell in Midtown Memphis is marking its 90th anniversary with a weekend of concerts and a free series running through October. Locals and visitors packed the lawn Saturday for a "Sounds of the Shell" show celebrating decades of Memphis music, and organizers say more performances are scheduled in the coming weeks.
