1. Coletta's Appling Road property sold to Casa Mexicana of Memphis owner for $2M (localmemphis.com) — A well-known Coletta's Italian restaurant building on Appling Road in Memphis has been sold for $2 million to the owners behind Casa Mexicana of Memphis. While the longtime Coletta's location has closed, the new owners haven't announced future plans, so nearby residents may see changes coming but don't yet know what will replace the restaurant.
2. Court rules Memphis deputy was wrongly fired over CBD (wreg.com) — A Shelby County deputy based in Memphis has won back his job after the Tennessee Court of Appeals ruled he was wrongly fired in 2024 over a positive drug test tied to off-duty CBD gummy use. The court ordered his reinstatement this December with a month of back pay, a decision that could interest many local public employees navigating legal CBD products.
3. TN Lottery Mega Millions, Cash 3 Morning winning numbers for Sept. 22, 2026 (tennessean.com subscription) — Memphis-area lottery players can now check the Sept. 22 winning numbers for Mega Millions, Cash 3, Cash 4, Daily Tennessee Jackpot and Millionaire for Life, and see if any of their tickets hit. The Tennessee Lottery also details how Memphis winners can claim prizes at the Chiles Plaza district office or by mail, including ID and paperwork requirements.
4. Two ETSU professors appointed to new Tennessee Music Advisory Council (wjhl.com) — Memphis is represented on Tennessee's new Music Advisory Council through leaders like Music Export Memphis founder Elizabeth Cawein and the city's director of creative and cultural economy. This statewide group will map music's economic impact and recommend ways to grow Tennessee's music industry, with work presented to the governor in early 2027.
