Today's riddle: Who's in favor of bringing back Roman Numerals? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Memphis Safe Task Force surpasses 13,000 arrests as it nears one-year mark (wreg.com) — A year into its mission, the Memphis Safe Task Force reports over 13,000 arrests, a 37% drop in murders, and thousands of guns seized, reshaping how crime is fought in the city. Local leaders, residents, and immigrant advocates are divided over whether the federal-led effort makes Memphis safer for everyone or relies too heavily on enforcement.
2. Arrest made after man allegedly stripped, shot and beaten over debt (wreg.com) — A man was allegedly lured to a duplex on Pope Street in North Memphis, stripped, shot in the thigh, beaten, and robbed after a dispute over money for a vehicle. Police have arrested 23-year-old Bailey Jobin, accused of orchestrating the attack, while several other suspects, including a man known as "One Legged Jay," remain at large.
3. Frayser-Raleigh town hall focuses on public safety, education and community resources (actionnews5.com) — Frayser and Raleigh residents gathered at Breath of Life Christian Center to press city, county, and state leaders on public safety, education, health, and senior services in their Memphis neighborhoods. Officials framed the town hall as a way to hear concerns directly and promised to use the feedback to guide future efforts and community resources.
4. Restaurant Roundup: September 25 (actionnews5.com) — Health inspectors just released new scores for several Memphis and nearby restaurants, including spots on Beale Street, Summer Avenue, Park Avenue, and in Collierville. Before you head out to eat this weekend, you can see which kitchens passed comfortably and which received lower scores that require follow-up visits and corrections from the Tennessee Department of Health.
