• Murfreesboro Police Release Images of Hatchet-Wielding Man Shot by Officers (wgnsradio.com) — Murfreesboro police have released body-camera stills from Friday's officer-involved shooting at the Clarion Inn & Suites, where officers say a man charged them with a hatchet while they served a warrant. The suspect was shot multiple times, stabilized, and taken to Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, while no officers or guests were hurt. TBI is investigating and the involved officers are on paid leave.
   

• Middle Tennessee surpasses last two years in officer-involved shootings, TBI data shows (wkrn.com) — Middle Tennessee has already logged more officer-involved shootings in 2026 than in either of the past two years, and a recent Murfreesboro hotel shooting is among the latest cases. State data show 15 such incidents so far, including one where Murfreesboro officers shot a man reportedly charging them with a hatchet. Experts point to population growth and seasonal factors as possible contributors.
