Controversial Anti-O'Rourke Flier Spotted In College Station
The flier instructs people to remove all Beto O'Rourke signs from their yard or "receive a $500 fine."
COLLEGE STATION, TX — The Texas Civil Rights Project is investigating a suspicious flier allegedly mailed to at least one resident claiming they'll receive a $500 fine it all "BETO" signs aren't removed. The civil rights group shared images of the flier Tuesday afternoon, where they have been shared more than 300 times.
"Citation warning: Any 'BETO' signs must be removed or you will receive a $500 fine. This man is not worthy of running for any office in the State of Texas. Here are some quick facts about this individual. Texas voters please wake up," the mailer reads.
The flier also includes the texas.gov address and logo at the top. A request for comment has been placed with the governor's office and Beto O'Rourke's campaign.

"They are very much illegal. At this point it is too early to give any specific violations, it really depends on some of the details," Texas Civil Rights Project spokesman Zenén Jaimes Pérez told Patch. "At this point, we are still trying to investigate how many people received the mailer and the source. It is still too early to tell. We have contacted the Secretary of State's office to try and get more information as well as make next steps."
