Dallas Police Release Body Cam Footage of Monday's Officer-Involved Shooting
Here's what the preliminary investigation reveals

The Dallas Police Department this week released body worn camera of an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred in an apartment on Woodhollow Drive earlier this week.
The department's Criminal Investigations Group briefed the media on the Feb. 2 shooting in a briefing held Wednesday. Major Nathan Swyers said the department received a 911 call about a disturbance at the apartment, where 18-year-old Tony Robinson was reportedly refusing to put away a firearm.
"The caller reported that [Robinson] was armed, refusing to put the weapon away, and had threatened to shoot the father and others inside the home," Swyers said. "During the incident, Robinson locked himself inside a bathroom with his grandmother, who was attempting to prevent him from harming anyone."

When police arrived, Swyers said, they were led to the bathroom by family members who warned them that Robinson was armed. "Officers could hear an active disturbance coming from within the bathroom," he said. "Officers forced the bathroom door open, at which point Robinson confronted them while armed with a handgun and pointed the gun in the officers' direction."
Swyers said an "exchange of gunfire" followed, during which Robinson fired one shot that hit the officer in his vest. "The officer returned fire, striking Robinson," Swyers said.

Robinson was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. Robinson's grandmother was also shot in the exchange. She received treated at the hospital and was later released.
This is the second officer-involved shooting incident by a Dallas Police Department officer of the year. The first OIS incident of 2026 occurred on Jan. 17 at 1200 Presidio Avenue. In that situation, police said officers investigating gunfire in the area shot an allegedly armed suspect.
