Andy Warhol Paintings Damaged After Date With Houston Lawyer

Authorities say Lindy Layman caused at least $300,000 in damage and damaged two Andy Warhol paintings while intoxicated.

HOUSTON, TX — A first date with a prominent Houston trial lawyer led to intoxicated mayhem with at least $300,000 in damage — including two damaged Andy Warhol paintings, authorities said.

Lindy Lou Layman, 29, and Anthony Buzbee, 49, went on a date on Saturday. Buzbee told investigators she became too intoxicated on their date so he requested an Uber for her when they returned to his home. But Layman wouldn't leave, instead hiding inside Buzbee's home, he said.

When he found her and requested another Uber, she became aggressive, authorities said, ripping down several paintings and dumping red wine on some of them as she shouted obscenities. She also allegedly threw two sculptures — valued at $20,000 — across the room, shattering them.

The damaged Warhol paintings were each valued at $500,000 in court documents.

Layman was arrested on Saturday on criminal mischief charges and was released on $30,000 bond. Online court records don't list an attorney for her.

Buzbee has represented high-profile figures, including former Texas Gov. Rick Perry in an abuse-of-power case. Then-candidate Donald Trump also visited his home last year when Buzbee held a fundraiser and donated $250,000 to Trump's presidential campaign.
