Giant Alligator Wrangled By Police Officers In Port Aransas

The 12-foot long beat was ultimately captured and taken to the Port Aransas Nature Preserve Monday.

PORT ARANSAS, TX — A woman came across a 12-foot long alligator Monday morning while jogging along State Highway 361. The beast was found in a Port Aransas drainage ditch around 11 a.m., KRISTV reported.

Law enforcement officials took roughly an hour to wrestle and capture the animal and move it to Port Aransas Nature Preserve. Local resident Jamie Gautreaux captured videos and photos of the capture.

"It is believed that this alligator is either 'Boots' or 'Stinky,' two gators that lived at the birding center that was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. The gator was relocated there. I've always seen this kind of stuff never in real life so it was pretty amazing. My disabled son was able to witness this as well. Just another day in paradise," Gautreaux told Patch.
