Texas Cities All Over The Map On Dating: Study
Texas lays claim to some of the best and worst cities in the nation for dating. See where yours ranks in the study.

Dating should be fun and easy, but the city you call home might have a bigger impact on your dating life than you realize. A study that mapped out the best and worst cities for dating focused on 182 of the largest cities across the U.S., 26 of which are in Texas. The findings were all over the map for Texas cities. The comprehensive study from WalletHub looked at 32 indicators of dating-friendliness ranging from share of single population to online dating opportunities to nightlife options per capita.
Unsurprisingly, Austin is the most dating-friendly city in Texas. Home to University of Texas and Austin Community College District, higher learning institutions that boast enrollments of 56,056 and 67,145 respectively, appeared third in the nation for "Highest Singles Gender Balance," but only 26 in the nation for overall dating. Austin was ranked 81st for "economics," making it one of the more expensive cities in Texas for dating.
After Austin comes Houston, ranked 33rd most dating-friendly city in the nation. Of the 182 cities studied, Houston came in at 25th for "Fun & Recreation," 63rd for "dating opportunities" and 111th for "economics," meaning Houston boasts plenty of ways to have fun with your significant other, but it might cost more than in other cities.

San Antonio is Texas' third-most dating-friendly city, but only the 42nd best city for dating in the nation. San Antonio ranked 29th in economics, making it a much cheaper place to date than Austin or Houston, but far from the cheapest dating city in Texas. San Antonio and Laredo tied for the cheapest cost for meals at restaurants in the nation.
Fourth in line comes Dallas, or, rather, DFW. Seven cities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area appear on the list. In national rankings, Dallas ranked 52, Arlington ranked 109; Plano, 113; Fort Worth, 119; Grand Prairie, 123; Irving, 125; Garland, 139. Somehow Plano has the second lowest percentage of singles in the nation, yet placed 2nd in the nation for online dating opportunities. Nearby Garland and Grand Prairie ranked particularly low in nightlife options, coming in at 179 and 180 in the nation, respectively.

After DFW comes Lubbock, 83; El Paso, 121; Corpus Christi, 137; Amarillo, 160; Laredo, 174; and Brownsville, 181.
Laredo and Brownsville have the fewest online dating opportunities in the nation. Laredo does however offer some of the cheapest beauty salon options, while Corpus Christi lays claim to the third-cheapest movie ticket prices in the country.
