Texas Inmate To Be Executed For Torturing And Drowning Woman

Troy James Clark, 51, will be the 17th inmate killed in the U.S. this year.

HUNTSVILLE, TX —A 51-year-old Tyler man is expected to be executed by lethal injection Wednesday evening for torturing and drowning a woman in his bathtub in 1998. Troy James Clark was found guilty of killing his former roommate Christina Muse, 20, in May 1998, the Associated Press reported.

Muse was reportedly tortured with a stun gun, beaten, bound with duct tape, and drowned before being placed in a 55-gallon drum filled with cement and lime, the Telegraph added. Clark's Supreme Court appeal in 2017 was denied, the Tyler Morning Telegraph reported.

Of the 17 inmates executed in the U.S. this year, Clark will be the ninth killed in Texas this year, the AP said.
