Weather forecast:
1. Arlington ParkScore Rankings Reach 44th Nationally (arlingtonnetwork.com) — Arlington just jumped to 44th nationally in the Trust for Public Land’s ParkScore index, with 71% of residents now living within a half‑mile of a park. The city will build on that momentum in June with the grand opening of Al Rollins Park next to the Southwest Branch Library, adding new trails, playgrounds, and native plant features for nearby neighborhoods.
2. FIFA reportedly putting up curtains at AT&T Stadium for a World Cup match (dallasnews.com) — If you’re heading to World Cup matches at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, FIFA will install curtains for the June 25 Japan–Sweden game to block the notorious setting-sun glare. The move contrasts with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ long-standing refusal to use curtains during afternoon NFL games, despite years of visibility complaints from players.
3. Wednesday's Child: A birthday cake and a forever family — Mark and Keelin just want to be loved together (wfaa.com) — Two young brothers, Mark and Keelin, recently spent a playful day together at Cheeky Monkey in Arlington but are still waiting for a family willing to adopt them both. Their caseworker hopes an Arlington-area or North Texas family will offer the love, patience, and stability they need, and shares how even a simple birthday cake remains an unmet wish.
4. FBI thwarts kidnapping, robbery plot targeting Amarillo businessman (newschannel10.com) — Federal agents investigating a plot to kidnap and rob an Amarillo businessman contacted his parent car rental company in Arlington where the owner helped confirm key details about the intended victim. Their cooperation, plus a tipster’s help and vehicle tracking from Las Vegas to Amarillo, allowed the FBI and Texas DPS to intercept the suspects before the crime occurred.
