Today's riddle: What has a cap but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Arlington Police Release Bodycam Video of Fatal Shooting of Man Armed With Knife (irvingweekly.com) — Arlington police have released body-camera footage from a September 17 shooting in which an officer fatally shot a 56-year-old man who advanced with a knife inside a West Lovers Lane home. Four officers initially went on leave and have returned to duty while parallel criminal and internal investigations continue into whether any laws or department policies were violated.
2. Why Arlington probably won't get the data centers drawing national attention (dallasnews.com) — Arlington officials are weighing new rules for where and how data centers can be built, even though big hyperscale facilities are unlikely because the city is nearly built out. Instead, smaller edge and enterprise centers, possibly in repurposed warehouses, are seen as more realistic, prompting potential changes to zoning, noise, water use, and neighborhood protections.
3. Apply for Arlington's Neighborhood Grants Up to $25K (arlingtonnetwork.com) — Arlington neighborhood groups and HOAs can soon apply for up to $25,000 in 2027 Matching Grant funds to improve landscaping, parks, signage, and public art, with $150,000 available citywide. Applications open October 5 and close November 16, and at least one team member must attend an information session or watch the recorded presentation before submitting.
4. Arlington Police ask for help identifying invasive recording suspect (fox4news.com) — Arlington police are asking residents to help identify a man who allegedly tried to secretly record up a teenage girl's skirt inside a local store using a camera hidden in his bag. Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Bunster or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County.
5. Shakespeare LIVE Announces RenFest Vendors (arlingtontoday.com) — Downtown Arlington will host the first-ever Shakespeare LIVE RenFest on Halloween, offering free Renaissance-themed entertainment, artisan vendors, and food trucks at Levitt Pavilion from noon to 6 p.m. Costumes are encouraged, and attendees can stay afterward for a free evening performance of Macbeth geared toward mature audiences.
