When the coronavirus outbreak forced Uplift Summit International Preparatory school to close, it meant the end of most extracurricular activities. But two student organizations found a way to continue their work serving the community.

Aamilah Chowdhury is president of the school's Key Club and National Beta Club. She quickly organized a service project to thank the essential workers and healthcare professionals keeping America safe and running.

Together, students from both clubs wrote thank-you messages for medical workers across the country. The notes have been delivered to facilities in Arlington, Denton, Waco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Tulsa, Houston, Philadelphia and Chicago.

Students also colored thank-you messages for postal workers. The signs have been placed on mailboxes across Arlington.

"I hope the medical staff and local postal workers find comfort from these projects," Chowdhury said.
