Arlington Animal Services Implements Further Changes Due To COVID-19

Arlington Animal Services is requesting the help of our citizens in the following ways:

If you recover a loose animal, you may consider fostering it yourself.
If you find an animal and elect to foster it, we recommend you take a clear photo of the animal and post it to the City’s Lost and Found Pets website in hopes of reuniting it with its owner.

The City has implemented the following temporary policies and procedures that are designed to protect public health and reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, as recommended by local, state and federal health authorities.
FIELD OPERATIONS
- Animal Services staff will respond to emergency calls only until further notice. This includes calls regarding animal bites to human, aggressive animals and sick or injured animals. For questions or information, please call 817-575-8127.
- Effective Monday, March 30,2020, no stray animals will be accepted at the Arlington Animal Services Center until further notice. Anyone finding an injured animal in Arlington can reach out for assistance at 817-575-8129, 817-575-8128, or 817-575-8127, and 911 during after-hours.
- We will continue to pick-up deceased animals as they pose a health and sanitation issue for the public.
PET ADOPTIONS AND RECLAIMS
- Pet adoptions can be made by appointment only at 817-575-8128. Click here to see adoptable pets and to obtain the animal ID number of the pet to provide when calling.
- Requests to reclaim a pet being housed at the shelter can be made by appointment only by calling 817-575-8129. Please search our Stray Pets website to obtain and provide the animal ID number.
- All fees for reclaimed animals will be waived. If you locate your pet on the city’s stray animal page, please contact us at 817-575-8129 during normal business hours to coordinate the return of your pet.
- Material donations to the shelter can be left in the donation black box outside of the receiving area. Monetary donations may be made through the Animal Services donations website.
RECEIVING ANIMALS
- We are unable to receive any stray or owner surrendered animals from citizen drop-offs until further notice.
- Animals transferred to approved Adoptions Placement Partners will be handled outside of the facility in the open air.
- Owner-surrendered animals will not be accepted at this time.
- Owners who are requesting euthanasia for their pet will be encouraged to visit a private veterinarian instead.
PET SURGERY
- Pets adopted from Arlington Animal Services with an existing surgery appointment will be handled as usual through the Moritz Wellness Clinic.
