The foundation has been raising money in Petco stores to fund its grants program. Arlington Animal Services applied for one of the grants to benefit the city's cat population.
A team from Arlington Animal Services was invited to a Petco event Monday where they were surprised with the news they'd been selected to receive $35,000.
"Arlington is the Dream City, and we took the opportunity to dream with this grant. And our dream came true," said Arlington Animal Services Manager Chris Huff. "With this money, we'll be able to spay and neuter 600 domestic and feral cats."
The check also came with toys and treats for Arlington's dog and cat population plus 100 pairs of shoes, donated by Skechers.
