Arlington Eats: Destiny Pointe Christian Center Serves Hot Meals To Arlington Residents

Editor's note: Destiny Pointe will be serving hot meals again Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 4:30 p.m. The church is located at 2350 E. Mayfield Road.

When a historic winter storm left people across the state without power or water, the team at Destiny Pointe Christian Center stepped up to help. In the latest Arlington Eats, host Andrew Tanielian went to the church as volunteers made sure no one went hungry.

The church has held food distribution events before. But the need was different following the storm. "We've never done hot meals before," said Senior Pastor Dr. Renee Denise Fowler Hornbuckle "I'm just so glad we had the foresight to just reach out and ask. And this is what we received."

The event was a partnership with Mercy Chefs, a faith-based nonprofit feeding communities following a disaster. Dozens of volunteers joined the effort, serving 1,500 meals.

"This is really amazing to watch," said Nick Beckman, with Mercy Chefs. "I got to meet some people for the first time. And their heart for serving the community is so cool."
