Arlington ISD Board Of Trustees Votes To Begin In-Person Instruction September 28, 2020
Hybrid instruction will run from Sept. 28 through Oct. 9 for students who want to return to in-person instruction.

Following a lengthy discussion at Thursday night’s meeting, the Arlington ISD Board of Trustees voted to begin in-person instruction for Arlington ISD students on Sept. 28 using a hybrid model.

Hybrid instruction will run from Sept. 28 through Oct. 9 for students who want to return to in-person instruction. Under the hybrid model, students will be assigned days of the week to attend classes on their campus. After the hybrid phase, elementary and junior high schools will return to daily in-person instruction for any parents who select that option. High school students will continue in the hybrid structure. The option to learn virtually will remain in place for all students who want to continue with online learning.
“I would like to thank the Board of Trustees for all of their work in reaching this decision,” Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos said. “The safety of our students and staff has been and continues to be our No. 1 priority. These dates will allow us to make the transition in a measured way that continues with the focus on safety.”

The Arlington ISD began the school year Aug. 17 with virtual instruction. When the hybrid model begins staff and students will have to follow safety protocols including masks for all staff members and students in grades 1-12 as well as frequent hand washing and social distancing when possible. The district will also continue with student meal service for students learning virtually at 28 locations throughout the district when hybrid instruction begins. Tarrant County Public Health has created a dashboard that is specific to the Arlington ISD that will allow anyone to view public health recommendations for our district. The dashboard is broken down into attendance zones by high schools in the district.
In the coming days, Arlington ISD parents will receive a new survey where they can select in-person instruction or opt to remain in the virtual learning environment. Devices and hotspots have been and will continue to be available for students who need them.
