Arlington: Keep Pets Safe, Calm And Cool During 4th Of July Celebrations

This 4th of July we may be creative in how we celebrate as we social distance ourselves, but no matter what we do, pet owners should be especially aware of their pet’s health and well-being during festivities.

If your pet does not have a microchip, get one! An unexpected loud noise may cause a pet to take flight, running out the door or getting out of the yard. More pets tend to go missing during this holiday because of what they do when they experience fear. Animal Services partnered with PawBoost for help in a dreaded situation like this, offering an online service, free of charge, that is like an AMBER Alert for pets.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) offers great July 4 Safety information to help prepare in advance, and keep your pet safe during the holiday.

The Animal Services Center will be open on Friday, July 3, and closed on Saturday, the 4th of July in observance of Independence Day. Staff will be onsite to care for the animals in the shelter. The center will reopen on Monday, the 6th of July.
