Arlington To Participate In National Day Of Prayer And Remembrance June 1

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams announced Wednesday the City will participate in a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Monday, June 1, 2020, to honor the more than 100,000 Americans who have died from coronavirus.

The nationwide initiative is organized by the U.S. Conference of Mayors and welcomes people of all faiths to participate.

“Arlington’s faith-based community has always stepped up during a time of need and I’m grateful for everything they’re doing to keep our spirits high and spread kindness in our community,” said Mayor Williams. “I’m proud to support the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance by the U.S. Conference of Mayors, as we come together as a nation to lift up victims and their families during this pandemic.”

Residents are encouraged to pause at noon to reflect, pray and mourn as we honor those lost. The initiative also calls for citizens to focus on the recovery ahead as we unite as a country to heal the ongoing pain and hardship caused by the pandemic.
