The trucks are equipped with a new electronic feature that provides a visual display of the temperature within each animal travel compartment. The compartments are programmed to maintain a comfortable temperature for animals in transport. Animal Control Officers will be alerted immediately if a compartment falls out of the desired temperature range.
Animal Services staff specifically requested features for officer safety. The new trucks have the compartments closer to ground level, with the doors to the compartments designed to open upwards, making it easier for the officer to load and unload an animal. This feature is especially helpful when working with large and/or aggressive animals.

The trucks also have better quality backup cameras that stay on all the time as an added safety feature.
These technically advanced vehicles were added personal designs and specs by staff to improve animal and officer safety to serve the community for many years to come.
