In addition to rebuilding the asphalt roadway with concrete to create a longer lasting and smoother roadway for drivers, other improvements planned for this project include:
- Installation of sidewalks with ADA compliant pedestrian ramps
- Installation of new streetlights
- Storm drainage system infrastructure improvements
- Renewal of water and sanitary sewer infrastructure
This project is part of the City’s program to rebuild residential streets throughout the city that have deteriorated beyond general maintenance and aligns with City Council’s priorities to Enhance Regional Mobility and Champion Great Neighborhoods. In addition to bond funds, the project is partially funded by a Community Development Block Grant. The City of Arlington has received this grant for more than 44 years and uses the funds to improve neighborhood infrastructure, parks, homes, and community services.
Residents interested in learning more about this project are invited to participate in a virtual public construction briefing on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Detailed information on how to join the meeting either online or via telephone is located on the “Public Meeting” tab of the project web page www.arlingtontx.gov/HanoverVanderbilt.
