In an email to supporters, leaders at the nonprofit wrote, "After careful and thoughtful consideration of all of our options, mandated by the COVID-19 pandemic, River Legacy Foundation has made the heartbreaking decision to cancel our beloved family event."
Leaders also announced they have canceled the annual "A Night with Nature" event scheduled for November. The Cardboard Boat Regatta was canceled earlier this year. The events are some of River Legacy Foundation's largest fundraisers and are expected to resume in 2021.
