As Arlington residents continue to face economic challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arlington Water Utilities' Care and Share Fund is providing aid with the help of three community nonprofits. The Care and Share charitable fund is fueled by donations. It helps residents who meet certain income guidelines and are having trouble paying their city services bill.
The Arlington City Council approved expanding access to Care and Share aid in July 2020 by adding Mission Arlington and Arlington Urban Ministries as partner agencies that refer residents for assistance. Catholic Charities Diocese of Fort Worth, which serves residents throughout Tarrant County, also prequalifies residents for Care and Share. In 2020, the amount of Care and Share assistance distributed to residents went from $3,021 in July to $9,240 in August. In September, $8,601 was distributed from Care and Share.

In addition to donations from residents, the Care and Share Fund receives a yearly donation from Service Line Warranties of America as part of an Arlington Water Utilities contract with the company for right-of-way sewer line repairs. The company has donated more than $250,000 to the Care and Share Fund since the contract began five years ago.
