• Semi-truck theft, 20-mile police chase lands Kaufman County man a 30-year prison sentence (kltv.com) — A Kaufman County man has been sentenced in Athens to 30 years in state prison after stealing an 18-wheeler and leading police on a 20-mile chase across multiple counties. Henderson County prosecutors say the April incident began in Gun Barrel City and ended in Van Zandt County, and note the defendant's long history of vehicle theft and evading arrest convictions.
• Hutch cements position at the top (on3.com) — Trinity Valley Community College in Athens is now ranked No. 13 nationally in the JCGridiron Dirty 30, making it the top team in the ultra-competitive Southwest Junior College Football Conference. The Cardinals, sitting at 4-1, host New Mexico Military this week as part of a brutal stretch that also features ranked Tyler, Navarro, Kilgore, Blinn, and Cisco programs from around Texas.
