• Bastrop eyes tighter data center zoning rules (communityimpact.com) — Bastrop officials are considering stricter zoning rules that would force data centers in Industrial districts to obtain conditional-use permits, giving council more say over future projects. The move follows rapid data center growth in Bastrop County and worries about water, noise and other impacts. Staff will brief council again Aug. 25 before any formal action.
   

• Bastrop considers audit, new safeguards for Flock camera data (kvue.com) — Bastrop city leaders are weighing an audit and tighter safeguards on Flock license-plate camera data after residents raised privacy concerns. Council has asked staff and Bastrop police to refine policies on how data is stored, accessed and shared, with potential changes including shorter retention and stronger oversight. An update could come as soon as the next council meeting.
