• Bastrop council backs proposed hospital and hotel development (communityimpact.com) — Bastrop city leaders just backed legislation that could clear the way for a 400-acre Bastrop West project featuring a full-service hospital, hotel, and convention center served by city fire protection and taxes instead of ESD 2. Officials say feasibility studies show a major gap in local health care access, and this change could both improve emergency response and lower property taxes for qualifying developments.
• Volleyball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Bastrop (maxpreps.com) — Bastrop Bears volleyball just stretched their winning streak to six matches after a dramatic comeback over McCallum, rallying from two sets down to win 3–2. Led by standout defensive performances from Aydan Connell and Brelan Fremin, the Bears improved to 22-13 and now turn their attention to a Friday night showdown against Anderson that local fans can catch at 7:30 p.m.
• Bluebonnet members in Washington Co. report increase in attempted scams (bannerpresspaper.com) — Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, based in Bastrop, is warning members about a spike in scam calls in Washington County from people posing as contractors who demand immediate access to homes. While the reports are from another county, Bastrop‑area members are urged to verify any unexpected visits, use their MyBluebonnet account to check usage, and report suspicious calls to law enforcement and Bluebonnet.
