• Bellaire City Council approves commercial parking ordinance (communityimpact.com) — Bellaire City Council has approved changes to commercial parking rules that ease minimum parking requirements and reduce excess parking in business districts, aiming to support development while protecting nearby homes. Officials say the updates, shaped since May by the Planning & Zoning Commission and Development Services, are meant to encourage more efficient land use and improve the look and feel of Bellaire's commercial areas.

More than 900 cameras have already been unplugged statewide, and cities are weighing whether local taxpayers should keep paying for the surveillance systems that police praise and privacy advocates question.
