Eagles aiming for District 2-4A Championship with balanced offensive machine (myplainview.com) — Canyon High’s Eagles are leaning on a powerful, deep offensive line and a run-heavy but flexible attack as they open District 2-4A Division I play, including key matchups against Hereford, West Plains, Randall, Pampa, and Dumas. Coach Matt Lovorn highlights quarterback Brox Hacker and a stable of backs and receivers, while stressing that an improved, physical defense must anchor a push for the district title.
   

2. West Texas A&M University sorority to host ‘Think Pink' 5K run on Saturday (myhighplains.com) — WT’s Zeta Tau Alpha chapter is hosting its first “Think Pink” 5K run at 9 a.m. today on the Canyon campus along 26th Street, kicking off Pink Week. Canyon participants will support scholarships, leadership programs, and national breast‑cancer education and research partnerships through the ZTA Foundation by joining the fundraiser.
   

3. WT University Police Dept. moves to new $10 million facility (myhighplains.com) — West Texas A&M University’s Police Department is moving next week into a new $10 million public safety building at 2 Monty Platt Drive, in the former Canyon Hospital. The 22,000‑square‑foot facility in Canyon brings nearly all campus public safety staff together, adds modern dispatch and evidence space, and keeps 911 and non‑emergency services operating while the move happens.
   

4. WT choirs to open 2026-2027 season with Oct. 8 concert (star-telegram.com) — WT’s choirs will launch their new season with a free fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in Mary Moody Northen Recital Hall on the Canyon campus, also available via livestream. Canyon students are featured among the performers, giving local residents an easy chance to enjoy modern sacred and secular choral music close to home.
