Today's riddle: What is the longest word in the dictionary? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. These 5 projects are reshaping Cedar Park, from hotels to roads (statesman.com) — Cedar Park is in the middle of a major building boom, with new mixed-use districts, a Marriott hotel and convention center, big-box retailers, and a Perfect Game sports complex all moving forward. Road and trail projects like the Toro Grande extension and Harp Gateway Bridge will reshape how residents travel, play, and access parks over the next few years.
2. Mosquito sample tests positive for West Nile virus at Cedar Park park (cbsaustin.com) — A mosquito sample from Buttercup Creek Park in Cedar Park has tested positive for West Nile virus, prompting city officials to urge residents to protect themselves outdoors. The city recommends wearing long sleeves and pants, using EPA-registered repellent, and draining standing water around homes; no human cases in Cedar Park have been reported so far.
3. Williamson County seeks shoe donations for suicide prevention display (lhindependent.com) — Williamson County is collecting new or gently used shoes through Sept. 7 for a powerful suicide awareness display, with one drop-off site right in Cedar Park at the Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace office. Residents can donate any style of shoes or even memorial pairs from loved ones, which will be preserved for future remembrance events and later benefit neighbors in need.
4. Blue Origin closer to setting up in Hutto (taylorpress.net) — Cedar Park's emerging spaceport is helping turn Williamson County into a regional hub for space and defense jobs, anchored by Firefly Aerospace's planned $78 million facility. Nearby in Hutto, Blue Origin is close to building a massive research and manufacturing complex that could add about 2,000 high-paying jobs, strengthening a growing aerospace corridor surrounding Cedar Park.
