• Mosquito sample near Lakewood Park in Leander tests positive for West Nile virus (cbsaustin.com) — Residents near Cedar Park and Leander should be aware that mosquito samples near Lakewood Park in Leander and Buttercup Creek Park in Cedar Park have recently tested positive for West Nile virus. Williamson County contractors are spraying in the affected areas at night on September 4 and 5, and health officials urge people to use repellent, wear long sleeves, and remove standing water around homes.
• Raccoon breaks into Williamson County Sheriff's Office training center (fox7austin.com) — Williamson County deputies had an unusual visitor when a raccoon slipped into the sheriff's training center workout room, prompting a tongue-in-cheek Facebook post about the "trespasser." For Cedar Park–area residents, it's a lighthearted reminder that local law enforcement can have fun with minor mishaps, even as they promise a deep clean and joke about future "offenses."
• Check out 6 transportation updates from across the Austin metro (communityimpact.com) — Cedar Park drivers should know that Toro Grande Boulevard is being widened and extended, with work underway to improve intersections, add turn lanes, and boost pedestrian access between Whitestone Boulevard, New Hope Drive, and Parmer Lane. Funded by city bonds and Williamson County, the $38.1 million project runs through fall 2027 and sits among several other major Austin-area transportation upgrades.
