Cedar Park police chief announces retirement (kxan.com) — Cedar Park's longtime police chief Mike Harmon will retire next month after more than two decades with the department, and the city has not yet announced who will lead the force next. Harmon will become chief of police for Round Rock ISD on Nov. 9, while Cedar Park officials evaluate their options for new department leadership.
2. Ascension Seton acquires 3 Family Health System facilities (communityimpact.com) — Ascension Seton is taking over a Family Health Systems facility in Cedar Park as part of a three-clinic acquisition aimed at expanding emergency and neighborhood care around Austin. The Cedar Park, Round Rock, and Lake Travis locations will transition later this year, and patients are told to expect no disruptions in services during the changeover.
3. Viral Texas cinnamon roll shop to close north Austin location (lmtonline.com) — Cedar Park residents will soon lose their Cranky Granny's Sweet Rolls shop, as the viral bakery plans to close its Lakeline Mall Drive location and refocus on its Pflugerville store. While no closing date is set, the 1,800-square-foot Walden Park space is now being marketed to new food tenants, offering a turnkey kitchen and storefront for another restaurant or bakery.
4. From granite to garden: How a youth-led nonprofit grew a pollinator paradise (oneearth.org) — A youth-led nonprofit has transformed a barren strip outside a Cedar Park community building into a thriving pollinator garden filled with native Texas plants that support bees and butterflies. Founder Tanvi Chakka's group, Bee A Savior, now runs chapters worldwide and invites locals to plant native flowers, reduce pesticides, or even start their own chapter to help pollinators.
5. Doodle Labs Moves HQ to Austin, Joining Defense Tech Cluster (credaily.com) — Cedar Park's growing role in the Austin-area defense and aerospace scene is drawing new investment, with one firm tripling its space in the city while Doodle Labs relocates its U.S. headquarters to nearby Austin. These moves signal more industrial, testing, and tech-related jobs and facilities in and around Cedar Park as defense tech companies cluster across the metro.
