Cedar Park Cancels 4th Of July Parades
Neighborhood pop-up parades were nixed after Gov. Greg Abbott issued ordered the mandatory use of protective face coverings.
CEDAR PARK, TX -- Cedar Park officials on Thursday canceled the neighborhood parades that had been scheduled on July 4.
Officials cited the issuance of a new executive order from Gov. Greg Abbott making the wearing of protective face coverings mandatory. The newly issued order taking effect on Friday came one day after state health officials reported the emergence of more than 8,000 new illness cases -- an all-time high since the onset of coronavirus in Texas.
“City staff are currently reviewing the governor’s orders, and will provide more information to the community on the city’s website and social media channels tomorrow,” officials wrote in an advisory.
