Cedar Park City Manager Secures Award For Leadership, Record Of Training Others

Brenda Eivens has worked at the city for 20 years, steadily climbing the ranks from human resources to her current post.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- The International City Management Association tapped Cedar Park's city manager as its 2016 recipient of its Award for Career Development, in memory of L.P. Cookingham.

City Manager Brenda Eivens was recognized by the city in securing the honor, which recognizes an outstanding local government administrator who has made a significant contribution to the career development of new talent in professional local government management.

Eivens has worked for the city for more than 20 years, beginning in January 1996 as human resources coordinator before climbing the ranks to the city manager's post achieved by 2006.

"It continues to be an incredible honor and pleasure every day to continue to get to work with you," Mayor Matt Powell said to her, as quoted by Hill Country News.

The award also honors individuals who have had a major impact on educating the next generation of leaders, an attribute Eivens also possesses, according to her colleagues.

“In terms of my own philosophy, I look back and remember those times and recognize how important that it is not just for individuals but also for the organizations that you help provide opportunities to develop people and grow people because they’re serving your community,” Eivens said, as reported by Hill Country News.
