Cedar Park Elections: Anne Duffy, Heather Jefts Win Seats, Incumbent Stephen Thomas Secures 8th Term

Duffy secures 57.67 percent of vote over Lyle Grimes; Jefts gets 57.62 percent over Jon Lux; Thomas runs unopposed.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Following Saturday's elections, Cedar Park City Council will have two new members on the dais along with an incumbent who secured his seat.

Anne Duffy secured the Place Three seat and Heather Jefts won the contest for Place Five. Council member Stephen Thomas, the incumbent who also serves as mayor pro tem, won re-election to an eighth term.

Duffy won the Place Three seat with 57.67 percent of the vote (2,004 votes) over incumbent Lyle Grimes who received 42.33 percent (1,471 votes).

“I am overwhelmed with the outpouring of support and the trust in what I want to do and what I want to represent, and that is the citizens of the city,” Duffy said in a prepared statement.

Jefts won the Place Five seat with 57.62 percent of the vote (2,007 votes) over incumbent Jon Lux who received 42.38 percent of the vote (1476 votes).

“I will work to make sure the citizens of Cedar Park have a voice on the City Council,” she said.

Both Jefts and Duffy thanked their opponents Lux and Grimes, respectively, for their contributions while serving on city council.

Incumbent Place One Council Member Thomas ran unopposed and was re-elected with 100 percent of the vote (2148 votes). This will be his eighth term serving on the Cedar Park City Council.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Cedar Park and I hope to continue to earn their trust and carry out the wishes of the citizens,” Thomas said.

All results are unofficial until canvassed at a specially called meeting (date to be determined) no later than May 17, 2017. Council members will then be officially sworn in at the May 25, 2017 regular city council meeting.
