Cedar Park HEATS Team Teaches Fire, Vehicle Safety
Fire department's 'Helping Educate About Today's Safety' team has been visiting local schools to teach kids a la Super Mario Bros.

CEDAR PARK, TEXAS — The Cedar Park Fire Department’s HEATS Team (Helping Educate About Today’s Safety) is visiting all 12 elementary schools in Cedar Park in October to educate students about fire and vehicle safety.
The HEATS Team is performing a Super Mario Brothers-themed show for kindergarten through 3rd graders as part of Fire Prevention Week, which kicked off on Oct. 7 and runs through Oct. 13. Topics covered include “X the text” (no texting while driving), pull to the right when a safety vehicle is behind you, turn down your music, buckle up in the car, smoke alarm maintenance and avoiding high risk activities.
The next HEATS Program performance is scheduled to occur on Thursday, Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Deer Creek Elementary, 2420 Zepplin Drive in Cedar Park.
