Cedar Park Invites Residents To Shop Local This Holiday Season

When you Buy Cedar Park, two cents of every dollar spent stays in the community and benefits the City's growth and infrastructure.

CEDAR PARK, TX — The National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates Americans will spend an estimated $30 billion this holiday season, covering the months of November and December and including the four major holiday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Consumer spending drives our economy, and retail sales offer a clear indicator for how our country's economy is doing.

The City of Cedar Park offers a similar glimpse into the ways local spending benefits the communities in which we live. According to the City's webpage, when you Buy Cedar Park, you support the local economy, including thriving small businesses and major retailers and restaurants. Two cents of every dollar spent in Cedar Park stays in the community, which translates to less reliance on property taxes, and in turn result in a lowered City property tax rate. In 2018, buying in Cedar Park generated approximately $30 million in local sales tax revenue back into the City.

  • One cent goes to the City's General Fund helping to fund essential services including Police, Fire, Parks and the Public Library.
  • A half cent goes to Community Development and local enhancement projects such as road and intersection improvements, parks improvements, and the Bell Boulevard Redevelopment Project.
  • Three-eighths of a cent goes to Economic Development to help recruit and retain more businesses as well as support our City-owned H-E-B Center.
  • One-eighth of a cent goes to the Stormwater Drainage program to prevent future flooding and protect our stormwater drainage infrastructure.
