Cedar Park, Leander Deemed Among Best Small Cities For Families In National Survey

LEANDER, TX — In a newly released study, Cedar Park and Leander were deemed to be among the nation's ten best small cities in the nation for families, with Pflugerville making it onto the top 50 such municipalities.

The NerdWallet survey relesaed on Monday ranks Leander as the third-best small city while Cedar Park followed closely in the 8th ranking. Also in the area, Pflugerville came in as the 42nd-best for families.

The highest-ranked Texas towns, according to the survey, were the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan cities of Little Elm and and Flower Mound, ranked second and seventh, respectively. Nearby Kyle, Texas, came in 11th in the NerdWallet study, while the cities of Wylie and Keller came in at 13th and 15th, respectively. Just outside San Antonio, Schertz clinched the 58th ranking among the surveyed cities.

To achieve their list, researchers studied data from the U.S. Census Bureau for 944 cities with populations between 25,000 to 75,000 residents. A full third of the score was extrapolated from such dynamics as ncome and affordability, prosperity and growth and family friendliness.

Leander was lauded for having median home values "...still below average relative to most cities" in the analysis while growth in Cedar Park — the sixth-fastest-growing city in the reckoning — was partially credited for its inclusion.

The top city for families, according to NerdWallet's study, is Linton Hill, Va., an unincorporated area some 40 miles west of Washington, D.C.
