Cedar Park, Leander Election Results

Corbin Van Arsdale new Cedar Park mayor as Leander heads for runoff. New city council members elected.

CEDAR PARK, TX — Corbin Van Arsdale won the race for Cedar Park mayor on Saturday after having served two terms on the city's city council.

In winning the mayoral race, Arsdale beat opponent Bob Cornelius with the former receiving 3,711 votes, while the latter getting 30 percent of the vote for 1,617 votes.

In addition to the mayoral race, Cedar Park voters also elected three new members to the city council: Mel Kirkland, Mike Guevara and Dorian Chavez. Kirkland was elected to Place 2 while Guevara won Place 4 and Chavez was elected to Place 6.

In Leander, Troy Hill and Vic Villarreal are headed to a runoff in the mayoral race as neither candidate garnered more than 50 percent of the vote. Hill secured 42.5 percent of the vote in a three-way race, while versus Villarreal got 31 percent. Adam C. Benefield was third with 597 votes, or 25.6 percent.

In the Leander city council races, Michelle Stephenson won the Place 2 seat, Christine Sederquist won the Place 4 seat and Marci Cannon won the Place 6 seat.
