CEDAR PARK, TX — A defense motion to suppress statements a woman made to police related to the 2014 disappearance of her son was denied Thursday, according to published reports.

State District Judge David Wahlberg denied the motion to suppress statements Meagan Work made to Cedar Park police as they investigated her son's disappearance, the Austin American-Statesman reported. The body of two-year-old Colton Brandt Turner was later found in a shallow grave in South Austin.

Work has since pleaded not guilty to tampering with physical evidence and injury to a child in connection to the child's death. The decision not to suppress Work's earlier statements follows a protracted legal battle over the admissibility of comments she made to police during their investigation.
