Cedar Park Named Best City In Which To Start A Restaurant
Population growth, median income, proximity to Austin, number of existing restaurants among factors taken into consideration in rankings.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- This stuff’s made in...Cedar Park?!?! Yes, and it’s a good thing, as a national survey yields Cedar Park as the best city in the nation in which to start a restaurant.
According to NerdWallet, Cedar Park is the best city in the entire country to start a new eatery. The survey took various factors into account in assembling its list, including population of at least 50,000, demand for new restaurants and economic conditions that could impact a restaurant’s success.
Population growth and density also were taken into consideration, along with median annual income and its growth and existing restaurant sales and number of eateries.

Given that criteria, Cedar Park came out on top -- beating cities in Tennessee, Georgia, Indiana and California. Other Texas cities making the Top 10 list were Round Rock, Frisco and Mission.
Surveyors noted most of the top cities saw population growth of nearly 10 percent in a mere three-year span, a key barometer of restaurant success. Cedar Park’s growth exceeded that, helping it secure the top spot.

“Those new residents helped drive the need for new restaurants,” NerdWallet wrote. “In Cedar Park, for example, where the population jumped over 20 percent, the number of restaurants more than doubled.”
The city also was helped given its proximity to the major metropolitan city of Austin just a few miles away, a city undergoing a “culinary renaissance,” according to the study’s authors.
The survey provided a snapshot of why Cedar Park was chosen tops in the country:
“The Greater Austin area is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan regions in the country, and Cedar Park, a major suburb, is reaping the rewards,” the study noted. “The number of restaurants in Cedar Park doubled over five years, partly in response to a surge in new residents.”
Among the notable eateries recently opened are In-N-Out Burger and Sushi Fever, which both opened in 2014. The study noted that with city officials expecting no slowdown to population growth anytime soon, demand for new dining options should remain strong.
