Cedar Park Officials Eyeing Several Options For Drainage Fixes

The most expensive plan would have a price tag of $45 million.

Cedar Park, TX -- City officials are mulling several options aimed at fixing drainage problems, according to a published report.

The Austin American-Statesman reported on a Cedar Park open house last week for residents to hear about the city's various options. The most expensive potential solution would come with a $45 million price tag and would include the widening of creeks, bridge construction and rebuilding flood-prone streets.

An increase in utility customers' water bills is being studied as a possible financing option. The fee would range from $2.89 to $11.16 monthly.

Other plans include the expenditure of $350,000 a year for debris removal from creeks and storm water pipes, $120,000 for enhanced street sweeping and $300,000 for infrastructure projects, the newspaper reported.

City officials began to discuss the possibility of implementing a drainage fee in early June, as Patch previously reported.
