ICYMI: Cedar Park Officials To Unveil City's Official Flag During Tree Lighting Ceremony

The winning design for new flag emerged from hundreds of submissions to be unveiled Friday, Dec. 9.

CEDAR PARK, TX — City officials are scheduled to unveil their official Cedar Park flag during the upcoming Holiday Tree Lighting and Santa's Workshop next weekend.

The unveiling is scheduled Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Oak Park located at 875 Quest Parkway.

In April 2016, the mayor and city council members called for Cedar Park residents to submit designs for an official city flag. More than 250 designs were submitted by community members ranging from professional graphic designers to local elementary school students.

A winning design from a Cedar Park resident was selected as the basis for the flag, while recurring elements, colors and symbols from other submissions were incorporated into the final design. Officials said the new flag, which will be a lasting symbol for the City of Cedar Park, and all of the details surrounding it will be revealed at the flag unveiling.

The unveiling will occur during the 18th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Santa’s Workshop, a Cedar Park tradition that features the illumination of Cedar Park’s 400-plus year-old heritage oak tree with more than 70,000 LED lights. The free event includes live music, carriage rides, games and prizes. Santa also will drop by, but those wishing to take photographs with the jolly old elf must bring their own camera.
