CEDAR PARK, TX — Zero would be better, but Cedar Park Police made two DWI arrests during their recent Spring Break crackdown on drunk drivers, officials said. During their Spring Break Traffic Enforcement Initiative from March 4-21, Cedar Park police worked a total of 23 hours, according to a Cedar Park Police press release. In that time, they made two misdemeanor DWI arrests.The initiative represented local participation in the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), meant to discourage and detect impaired driving during popular travel times. As part of the effort, participating law enforcement agencies statewide are allowed to seek blood draws from drivers declining to be tested for drunkenness, a step enabled with on-the-spot bench warrants from municipal judges.
