Cedar Park Police Express Condolences To Their Fallen Dallas Brethren

Cedar Park, TX -- Police expressed their condolences to their counterparts in Dallas on Friday for losing five officers to a gunman this week, while simultaneously thanking residents for supporting them for their own work in Cedar Park.

"We are heartbroken for the families and friends of the fallen Dallas Police Officers, the DART Officer, for the Dallas Police Department and for the DART Police Department," Cedar Park Police Department officials said in their Facebook page. "This tragedy gives us all an opportunity to elevate the discourse in America by remaining patient, rather than practicing speculation, while Dallas seeks answers and by making the daily decision to communicate with one another respectfully and compassionately whether through spoken word or those typed on a keyboard."

The department said the time for introspection in the midst of grief was needed, noting their own spirits are buoyed by the support from Cedar Park residents.

"Now is a time for mourning and self-reflection and we invite you to join us in lifting up all those who have been impacted by this senseless act," they wrote. "It is also a time to say how very honored we are to serve a community that is supportive of us - many do not have that privilege. Thank you, Cedar Park, for all the countless ways you show us that you care so deeply."

In spontaneous acts of support in the wake of the tragedy in Dallas, residents have dropped off goodies for the officers to show their support of law enforcement. Like words of support, the treats also were welcome.

"Thank you to everyone who came by with notes and treats for us today," officers wrote. "Our cup (and our table) runneth over. #gratitude."
