Cedar Park Police Seeks Public's Help In Finding Check Fraud Suspect

Surveillance footage shows woman allegedly passing off stolen checks from an Austin business.

CEDAR PARK, TX -- Cedar Park Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a check fraud suspect.

To that end, police have released surveillance camera images of the suspect allegedly passing the bad checks. Police say four checks reported stolen from Austin-based CetraPro Painters were later cashed at Chase bank branches in Cedar Park between Dec. 23 and Jan. 7.

On their Facebook page, Cedar Park Police used humor in asking for the public's help by releasing images of the suspect. They referenced the classic show "Gilligan's Island" in describing the woman's attempts at diguise.

"We totally get the first two disguises...clearly this woman is channeling her inner Ginger and Mary Ann, but we're guessing not even the Professor can figure out that beanie," police wrote. "Good with faces? Help us ID this castaway."

Anyone recognizing the woman in the surveillance stills or who might have information are urged to call Detective Clarence Priestley at (512) 260-4654 or via email at Clarence.Priestley@cedarparktexas.gov.
