Cedar Park Resident Accused Of Beating Up Elderly Man For Honking Horn
Edward Goedeking, 61, is accused of beating a 73-year-old man after accusing him of honking near his home.

CEDAR PARK, TX — A Cedar Park man is accused of dragging an elderly driver out of his vehicle and assaulting him this week for honking the car horn at a garbage truck, according to a published report.
Edward Goedeking, 61, of Cedar Park was charged with injury to an elderly person, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. The victim is a 73-year-old man, according to the affidavit referenced in an Austin American-Statesman report.
The victim said he was inside his car on Monday when he heard Goedeking yelling at him from a distance. Thinking he might know the man, the elderly motorist drove over to him along the 1700 block of Halter Lane. Instead, Goedeking reportedly stood in front of his house while yelling at the elderly driver for having honked—an accusation the older driver denied—according to the affidavit.

In a rage, Goedeking then is accused of punching the septuagenarian in the face while the older man tried to close the car to his car and flee. But Goedeking, according to the affidavit, pulled the older man out of his car to thrown him to the ground before sitting on top of him and continuing his thrashing, according to the report.
The emergency 911 was called. The extent of the older driver's injuries—redness and swelling to his face, scratches on his elbows in addition to pain in his chest, head and neck—were outlined in the affidavit.

As of Tuesday, Goedeking was still behind bars at the Williamson County Jail with a bail set at $20,000, according to county records.
In the comments section of the story in the Statesman, a woman named Kulera Katz said the man assaulted is her dad: "The man he assaulted was my father,' the woman wrote. "My dad is a disabled veteran. Just had multiple surgeries. I hope he gets what he deserves."
