Cedar Park Residents Reminded Texting While Driving Ban In Full Effect
Williamson County Sheriff's Office deputies are pulling people over to remind them of new law and get motorists acclimated.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX – County officials on Wednesday reminded residents that the ban on texting while driving implemented by virtue of a recent law is now in effect throughout the state.
The Texas Legislature went into effect on Sept. 1, 2017. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is in the midst of educating the community on the new law and the dangers of texting while driving, officials said in a press advisory.
Until then, patrol deputies are pulling over drivers observed to be on their electronic devices while the vehicle is in motion. At this point, deputies are merely reminding drivers it is now illegal to text while driving and the consequences of violating the new ban.
