Cedar Park Woman Charged With Child Endangerment After Breastfeeding While On Meth
Melina Wright, 30, faces state felony punishable by up to two years in jail after infant test positive as a result of feedings.

CEDAR PARK, TX — A woman was charged with endangering a child after she was found to have been breastfeeding her child while taking meth, according to a newly released arrest affidavit.
According to a report in the Austin American-Statesman, police were alerted an infant had been left alone in a house on South Buffalo Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day. Melina Wright, 30, arrived at the home as police waited to speak with a Child Protective Services caseworker.
Wright reportedly told the officer she and the child's father had gotten into an argument and she had gone for a bicycle ride in the aftermath of the encounter. She told police the child's father stayed behind in the house with their child.

The woman and child were then taken to the Cedar Park Police Department where the woman underwent a drug test, after which she tested positive for methamphetamine. During questioning, Wright acknowledged she was breastfeeding the baby, who later also tested positive for methamphetamine after a Jan. 4 test on his hair.
The woman was promptly charged with endangering a child, which is a state felony punishable by up to two years in jail. She was being held at the Williamson County Jail under a $10,000 bail.
